Lions fan Carolyn Duimstra, of Auckland, was thrilled to meet coach Warren Gatland when the team landed at Dunedin Airport on Sunday afternoon.

The British and Irish Lions are in the city ahead of their clash against the Highlanders at Forsyth Barr Stadium on Tuesday night.

The team was in good spirits when they emerged from their flight from Christchurch shortly before 3pm.

About 30 fans gathered to welcome and meet the players, who were upbeat following their hard-fought 12-3 victory over the Crusaders last night.

Many stopped to pose for photographs and sign autographs before boarding a bus and heading to town.
