The Highlanders have Easter weekend off and will use that time to get away and freshen up and, hopefully, welcome back some players when the side resumes with a match against the Sunwolves in Invercargill on April 22.
With five of their opening seven games against fellow New Zealand sides, the Highlanders have come out of their tough opening stanza with a respectable 4-3 record.
Sure, it could have been better, but the side now has six games in a row against teams from outside these shores. It sits ninth on the table.
Highlanders coach Tony Brown said he had to be satisfied, especially after losing the opening two games.
''We were hard done by in those first two games so we could be better. But I think we have done well to fight back after losing those first two games,'' Brown said.
''To be 4-3 with all the injuries we have had, I think we are in a pretty good spot. We are going to get a few guys back and we can really push hard for the playoffs.
''Hopefully we can get Waisake [Naholo] back. Ash Dixon back, Dan Pryor back, Lima Sopoaga. We are in a pretty good space if we can keep our guys fit and get those guys back.''
He said players would have a week away from team training, although they would still be required to undergo their own fitness regimes.
They would come back together on Easter Monday.
Brown said Saturday night's match, won 26-20 by his side, was a close-run thing but once the side got its discipline under control, it did well.
''It was always going to be close. The Blues were willing to play and we knew we were going to be in for a tough night. And it was a tough night. But, thankfully, we got on the right side of the scoreboard.
''First half our discipline let us down and we let them into our 22m and they got points from that. If we are giving away penalties, then we are not going to do very well in the game. I think in the second half we fixed that and you saw the Blues around halfway a lot and that was part of our plans.''
Brown had high praise for his bench, including All Black Liam Squire, who had a strong 30 minutes on the field.
''He has got no regard for his body. He puts it on the line every time he plays. He is one of those guys you just want to play with, not against.''
The Highlanders have gone up to ninth, on the ladder though it means little at this stage.
In other matches, the Sunwolves beat the Bulls 21-20 in Tokyo, the Stormers beat the Chiefs 34-26 in Cape Town, the Brumbies beat the Reds 43-10 in Canberra and the Sharks beat the Jaguares 18-13 in Durban. In the game last night, the Force edged the Kings 46-41 in Perth.
