Zingari-Richmond was beaten but not disgraced when it lost to Kaikorai in the Tom Watkins Memorial match at Montecillo.
No 8 Colin Enright scored after a lineout to give Zingari a 5-0 lead after 15 minutes.
Kaikorai evened the score 13 minutes later when prop Jim Stevenson was driven over after a lineout.
It had been a solid first 40 minutes by Zingari with flanker Kris Miller covering efficiently and blindside flanker Chris Bell dangerous with the ball in hand.
But Zingari had done its dash and Kaikorai took control in the second spell to score four more tries to win comfortably.
The Zingari tackling, which had been accurate in the first spell, fell away as Kaikorai started to move the ball wide and attack from all parts of the field.
The floodgates opened in the second spell, with winger Tony Ensor using his pace to run out from his own 22m to score a try himself and make another one.
No 8 Blair Tweed made ground from the set pieces and prop Stevenson applied pressure in the scrums.
- Kaikorai 35 (Matt Direen, Tony Ensor, Cam Rutherford, Matt Te Tana, Jim Stevenson tries; Rutherford 2 con, 2 pen), Zingari-Richmond 10 (Colin Enright, Chris Bell tries). Halftime: 5-5. Referee: Hamish Davies.
