Green Island had Zingari-Richmond captain Chris Bell to thank for its victory in a thriller at Miller Park.
With barely five minutes remaining, Zingari-Richmond trailed 26-25 but was awarded a penalty just to the left of the posts and 5m out.
Instead of asking reliable team-mate Mark Hunter to kick the goal, Bell opted to tap and go and, following seven phases of play, Green Island was awarded the scrum and cleared the ball.
Zingari-Richmond was always in the game and competed well against its more favoured opponent. The tight five contested well for the ball and made good use of recycling it to a keen backline.
Hunter had a solid game and linked well with Nathan Napier in the midfield.
Despite the win, the game produced more questions than answers for Green Island. Backline opportunities were lost through passing being too hurried, often undoing some fine work by the forwards, where Simon McCarthy and Jamie Waller stood out in the tight and Guy Archibald and Mika Mafi in the loose.
There was consolation of sorts for Zingari-Richmond as it was able to claim its first competition point this season, earning a bonus point for losing by fewer than seven points.
