Loose forward Mika Mafi gave a dynamic display to help Green Island beat Zingari-Richmond and retain the Hellyer Memorial Trophy at Montecillo.
He was difficult to stop when driving with the ball in hand and his bruising style of play subdued Zingari in the final 20 minutes.
Green Island started with a rush and scored its first try in the first minute. Zingari came back firing and controlled the next 50 minutes of the game and led 12-8 at the break.
Key players for Zingari were loose forwards Chris Bell and Kris Miller while Ben Kent restricted Green Island's attempts to break out in the midfield.
But Zingari tired in the final 20 minutes when Green Island cut loose, with backs and forwards attacking from all parts of the field.
Green Island had added grunt when experienced campaigners Dean Moeahu at halfback and Frankie Elisara at prop came on in the second spell. Centre Roma Sauileoge was the best of the Green Island backs and scored two tries.
