Rugby: Good win for Taieri over Zingari

Lock Matt Larson dominated the lineout and supplied Taieri with a monopoly of ball in the second half at Montecillo.

A rejuvenated Zingari had restricted Taieri's halftime lead to 12-7 when openside flanker Steve Roberts pounced on a ball spilled by the Taieri backs. He toed it ahead and scored the try to keep Zingari in the game at the break.

The Taieri pack dominated the second spell by driving forward off Larson's lineout takes. Taieri had most of the ball and camped for long periods inside the Zingari 22m.

Taieri scored three more tries and led 31-7 before Zingari hooker Jesse Muir scored a late try from a lineout.

Props Brett Anderson and Dean Collins had solid games in the Taieri front row, wingers Rhys Collins and Tom Davie had speed out wide and Ben Nowell was steady in the midfield.

Robertson, No 8 Chris Bell and lock Brady Carmichael were the best of the Zingari forwards, while Ben Bradley was steady at first five-eighth.
