Rugby: Alhambra-Union eases to win over Zingari

A strong first half and the accurate goal kicking of Peter Breen helped Alhambra-Union to a comfortable win over Zingari-Richmond at the North Ground.

Four converted tries gave Alhambra-Union a 28-11 lead at the break.

The second half was better for Zingari, with the Highlanders inside back combination of Aaron Smith and Lima Sopoaga keeping the Colours in the game.

They initiated moves from all parts of the ground with long cut out passes that stretched the defence and finally led to a try by No 8 Chris Bell late in the second spell.

It was Breen's accurate goal kicking that kept the margin safe for Alhambra-Union. He kicked all his six goals to score 13 points.

The other players to stand out for Alhambra-Union were aggressive No 8 Ben Pereira and prop Scott Manson.

Key players in the Zingari pack were No 8 Chris Bell and lock Brady Carmichael. Karl Hart ran aggressively on the wing.

Alhambra-Union 38 (Scott Manson 2, Ben Qauqau, Jarid Bradley, Ben Pereira tries; Peter Breen 5 con, pen), Zingari-Richmond 16 (Karl Hart, Chris Bell tries; Lima Sopoaga 2 pen). Halftime: Alhambra-Union 28-11.
