Southern is back on top of the competition standings, following a convincing 39-20 win against Taieri at Peter Johnstone Park this afternoon.
The Magpies pack had too much ball for Taieri and led 22-3 at the break.
Highlanders loose forward James Lentjes made his playing return after being sidelined with an elbow complaint since March and had a big impact for Taieri in the second half with two tries.
Alhambra-Union upset University 38-28 at the North Ground,
Kaikorai and Dunedin had to settle for a 24-24 draw at Kettle Park
and Harbour edged Green Island 27-20 at Watson Park.
