Zingari-Richmond's latest recruit Shae Tucker rather enjoyed responding to a dismissive piece in the Otago Daily Times in the best possible fashion.
The stand-in first five-eighth led the Colours to a surprising 24-21 win against traditional heavyweight Dunedin on a rock-hard Kettle Park on Saturday.
Being written off in the newspaper provided that little bit of extra motivation the team needed - you are welcome.
"Honestly, that went through my head as we were winning the game," he said.
"I was like thinking that's for you ODT.
"The boys were so amped. Everyone was dancing, we got the team song going - I still don't even know the team song but I was blaring out some words."
Tucker is back in Dunedin to complete his studies after a two-year absence. It is university first, rugby second, this time around.
"When I left to go to North Harbour, I left with two papers which I still needed to complete to get my [bachelor of commerce] degree," Tucker said.
"I got one done by distance but the last paper you can't do by distance, so I've come back to get it done."
He was tempted to rejoin his old side, University. But he was approached by the Colours and the lure of a job as a teacher aide at Tahuna Intermediate helped seal the move.
Initially, though, he was more than a little reluctant. The last time he had anything to do with Zingari-Richmond ,he was helping University destroy it 137-0 in 2016.
He ran in two of the 20 tries that day. It was a bath and those memories came flooding back when manager Roddy Scholes called.
"That was the first thing I kind of said to him. But he talked me around," he said.
"I'm also literally living just across the road from the ground, so I have that convenience."
Zingari was different beast on Saturday. Tucker turned in a wonderful performance in the curious position of first five-eighth.
He is filling in at pivot until regular No10 Thomas Johnson returns in "round four or five".
"I'm a centre who plays 10 at the moment," he said.
"There was no point in playing centre if we couldn't get it out wide, anyway."
As for the tense win, Tucker said "it was one of those games of rugby where every single play had to be clutch".
It is tremendous confidence-booster for the team and it will need it. Zingari hosts Southern at Montecillo tomorrow.
Southern had a convincing 30-15 win against joint defending champion University at Logan Park.
In the other games, Alhambra-Union will host Dunedin, Harbour plays Taieri and University has another tough match against Kaikorai.
