The side has recorded good wins over Heriot and Owaka to begin the season and heads to Milton tomorrow to take on Toko.
The Valley side has been scoring plenty of points, and coach Craig Hyslop said he was happy with its attack.
Clutha Valley may be conceding a few points, and the defence could be tightened up some more, but as long as the side was getting something done at the attacking end, then he would be happy.
Some of the young players who had come into the team this year had made a real difference and brought energy to the team, he said.
The side had probably not yet put together a solid 80-minute performance but had done enough in its two games so far.
There were some injury issues in the midfield but the worries appear to be clearing as players get back on their feet.
Loose forwards Liam Turnbull - in his first year out of school - and Damian Wilson were playing well and helping the Valley team get some continuity into its game.
Geordie Willocks was also doing well in the backs and helping on attack.
The side made it through to the top four last year but was then beaten by Crescent in the semifinal.
Hyslop said the defeat in the semifinal was a tough one to take but Crescent had turned up to play and deserved to win.
Halfback Josh Botting was turning out for the side again and getting through plenty of work.
Botting was working and living in Roxburgh but was travelling to Clydevale for training along with a couple of others from the Roxburgh area.
Roxburgh had ambitions to have a team in the Central Otago competition but that had fallen through because of a lack of playing numbers.
Former Clutha Valley midfielder Lachie Moore, who played in Dunedin and for the Eastern Barbarians in the Southland premier competition, is helping out in the coaching ranks for Clutha Valley.
In other games in the southern region tomorrow, Crescent hosts Heriot, Owaka has a tough home game against Clutha and Lawrence takes on Clinton in Lawrence.
