That second jog in the park is always harder. The follow-up album, the book after the best-seller.

Backing up is always a tough ask.

Liam Squire is about to have that feeling.

After a break-out performance last Saturday against the Wallabies in Sydney, the Highlanders loose forward will suit up again to take on the same opposition under the roof tonight.

Squire is aware he will have to keep up the high standard he set last Saturday.

``What I am trying to bring to my game is consistency so I'm looking forward to that challenge a bit this week. But in saying that I'm not changing my prep this week,'' he said.

``If I can keep up the same as last week then I hope it will go good this week.''

Squire (26) roamed wide and enjoyed the open spaces in Sydney, picking up an early try and making metres every time he got the ball in hand.

``You've just got to be able to adapt to the way the game is going, whether it is a loose game and a tight game, to get myself involved and contribute where I came. That is something to build on.

``Whenever you get a chance to put on a black jersey you want to put your best foot forward. That will be what I want to do.''

 • Cup win 'would be huge'

Squire had a limited season with the Highlanders - he injured his knee in the second game of the season which had him out for more than a month.

He then broke his thumb in South Africa against the Cheetahs and made it back only for the penultimate game of the Super Rugby season.

``It has been a little bit of a frustrating year with the thumb and that. It's good to be finally back and running round semi-healthy.''

Squire would be helped being back on home turf tonight.

With whispers Jerome Kaino is headed towards retirement, Squire knows a good performance tonight and through the rest of the Rugby Championship will go a long way to helping him cement the All Black No 6 jersey as his.

Kaino was not with the All Blacks this week as he is on leave dealing with a personal matter.
