A decent Hollywood script writer would  struggle to come up with  a better storyline than this.

The All Black skipper about to go into his 100th test, which happens to be a once-in-a-generation series decider.

So yes, no pressure, please.

The stage does not get much bigger for Kieran Read than that which unfolds in front of him tonight.

He started in the black jersey in November, 2008 and now,  99 tests later, Read will join the hundred club.

He admitted yesterday the pressure had been ramped up this week but it was important to stay composed.

"I think it comes back to our process. We weren’t happy with the way we played last week and we certainly have to make a change," Read said.

"I’m pretty confident with what we have got. It doesn’t get any better than at Eden Park, in the sense a final. So it is a pretty special opportunity."

Read said the side had worked hard during the week and there was a good feeling within the team.

He said the fact is was his 100th test was not something he had focused much on.

"I have had a few more messages and things that have come my way, but to be honest, it is a team thing and I will certainly get my thrill about going out and getting the win.

"I am what I am. The All Black captaincy is something that is pretty special to me. I respect it and want to honour it the best I can. The best way to do that is be
who I am. The boys have been pretty special this week.

"I can’t wait to get into it. You grow up looking for these moments in your career."

There was obviously more pressure on this week, he said, and the team had embraced it.

The new players had tremendous talent and just had to go out and do their role.

He would love the home team’s supporters to be just as loud as the expected 20,000 Lions supporters but at the end of the day "you just get on the field and
go and play".

The No 8 said the side had not got ahead of itself.

"You come off a loss and there is a bit of edge around. You want to get out there and have another crack. Fortunately, we have got that opportunity. The guys knew what was coming up with a three match series . . . we are focused on what is an awesome opportunity. The guys have built well during the week."

Whatever the pressure, Read would not want to be anywhere else.

"I never expected to be in this position . . . the best thing for me is to go out and do my bit and help the team and get the win.

"We cannot rewrite the book and change things. We have just got to go out and play."
