Coach Steve Hansen yesterday named his All Black squad to take on the Pumas in Buenos Aires in the opening round of the Rugby Championship.
There is plenty of new blood and a relatively youngish look to the forward pack.
Crusaders winger Sevu Reece, who will make his test debut, is the only new test player in the starting XV.
But there are four new players in the reserves, including Otago first five-eighth Josh Ioane, who is likely to get game time at some stage.
Chiefs loose forward Luke Jacobson is on the bench, along with team-mate Atu Moli, while Ioane is joined there by Crusaders flyer Braydon Ennor. Former Otago halfback Brad Weber is the only back on the reserves bench with any experience, having played one test in 2015.
With Crusaders players staying behind for rest there was always going to be a touch of inexperience to the front eight.
Ofa Tuungafasi and Angus Ta'avao will prop the scrum in between the returning Dane Coles while Moli will undoubtedly get his chance to make his test debut after playing in a tour match in 2017.
Lock Brodie Retallick, who will get back on the field after a disrupted Super Rugby season, will partner Patrick Tuipulotu.
As expected, Ardie Savea starts at No8 with Kieran Read back home in New Zealand. Sam Cane completes his amazing comeback from a broken neck last year by being named on the openside flank and to captain the side.
It was believed Ioane was a chance to start the game but Beauden Barrett will take the No10 jersey and steer the side around the park.
Ngani Laumape and Anton Lienert-Brown will link in the midfield. Sonny Bill Williams was not risked because of a hamstring injury.
Jordie Barrett makes an appearance on the left wing and Reece is on the right wing.
Damian McKenzie is out so Smith gets his chance to return to the back and play in what many see as his best position.
Highlanders standout Liam Coltman is the reserve hooker and should get to add to his four caps.
The game will played in the afternoon in Argentina.
All Black coach Steve Hansen said the team has had a good week's preparation after travelling from New Zealand last weekend.
"As always, with the first game of the season, we've worked hard on building our relationships, re-establishing our connections and combinations and getting clarity in our roles.
"We'll continue to nail the details further in training throughout the week so that we are bright, clear and excited to play with real intensity come Saturday," Hansen said.
