The horses named as emergencies who did not enter the fields were automatically scratched by the Cambridge-Te Awamutu Harness Racing Club at 5pm on Thursday.
This is 24 hours earlier than the usual scratching time for emergencies at Saturday harness meetings.
Everlaughing Life would have entered the field for the 4yr-old mares' race if One Dream had been scratched by 5pm on Thursday.
Days Of Courage was in the 4yr-old entires' and geldings' race which was already reduced to 11 horses with the scratchings on Monday of Mr Ricky and Cast Adrift which allowed emergency Tuapeka Tiz to enter the field.
"We made the scratching time for emergencies a day earlier so the fields would be to all intents and purposes finalised for betting purposes when published on Friday morning," Darrin Williams, the handicapper for Harness Racing New Zealand, said.
"The earlier time was well publicised."
Edward Rennell, the general manager of HRNZ, said the scratching time for emergencies in the series would come under scrutiny in a review.
One Dream and Days Of Courage both have filling in front legs.
One Dream had been a $4.50 second favourite for the $200,000 race for 4yr-old mares.
"She [One Dream] had fluid in the leg when we scanned her today. This has probably developed from a sore foot this week," co-trainer Dave McGowan said yesterday.
"There is a risk that she could break down by racing her so she is out in the paddock for three or four months."
One Dream, the winner of 18 of her 23 starts, has not raced since January when she injured a tendon.
She has won four of her five starts including the group one Queen Of Hearts this season.
Days Of Courage was an outsider in the $200,000 Emerald.
"He has got a little filling in his off front leg. It is hard to say what it is," Richard Brosnan, his Papakura caretaker trainer, said.
David Mitchell, the Kerrytown trainer of Days Of Courage, arrived in Auckland yesterday and the decision was made to scratch the entire after consultation with a veterinarian.
