Coup Catbird and Remembrance, members of stable of leading trainer Michael Pitman, are in contention for a $30,000 bonus by winning at Riverton today.

The bonus is available under the TBS bonus series administered by the Cambridge Thoroughbred Sales.

Coup Catbird won a 1200m maiden at Riccarton on Saturday with Lisa Allpress the rider. Stable apprentice Courtney Van Der Werf can claim 3kg for the filly today.

Remembrance, who has not raced since October, is the mount of leading South Island rider Daniel Stackhouse.

Pitman also has Vintner in the race but Pitman said last night the gelding would not start unless the track deteriorated with heavy rain overnight.

Pitman had 10 horses travelling to Riverton last night and another six will join them today. The team, will be based there until the conclusion of the Riverton Easter meeting on April 23 and 25.

The move was necessary as work is being undertaken at Waikouaiti, the usual base for Pitman. Hauturu is a top prospect for the stable today after her impressive win at Wingatui on Sunday.

James McDonald is hoping to be fit to ride at Rotorua tomorrow. He missed the Otaki-Maori meeting yesterday when unwell.

Chris Johnson did not ride yesterday due to transport difficulties.

Nicholas Gow was suspended from April 17 to 23 inclusive when he admitted careless riding yesterday. Gow, riding Madanske, shifted in near the 1400m, causing checks to Pycok Flyer and Little Storm.

McDonald missed the ride on Marea Alta who won in the hands of Chad Ormsby.

Shamrocker is the pronounced favourite to become the first filly in more than 20 years to win the AJC Derby-Oaks double at Randwick on Saturday.

TAB Sportsbet had her at $2.90 after she drew four in a 17-horse field.
