Jumpforjoy set a track record for all ages when she won the heat of the Sires' Stakes Fillies series for 3yr-olds in a 1.55.8 mile rate for 1700m (mobile) at Forbury Park yesterday.
Her time of 2.02.4 was 0.4sec inside the track record set by the 2yr-old Charge Forward in March.
The previous best by a 3yr-old filly was 2.03.1 by Angela Jane in 2002.
The mile race record at Forbury Park is 1.56.1 set by Likmesiah in 2003.
It was the second win in five starts for Jumpforjoy, raced by her breeders trainer-driver Clark Barron and Alex McDonald, of Invercargill. She has finished second in her other three starts.
Barron said it was unlikely that Joyfuljoy would head to Auckland for the final of the Fillies Championship on December 31.
"I will discuss it with Alex but I doubt if she would go to Auckland. She is a big filly and there is a lot of racing for her later in the season," Barron said.
Joyfuljoy, a half-sister by Mach Three to Jumpforjoy, won the 2008 Fillies' Championship final.
• Commander Jewel could prove a worthy replacement for owner Jim McDonald.
The 3yr-old trotting filly won comfortably yesterday after leading over the last 1500m.
Commander Jewel is a replacement for Crystal Star, who won 11 races including the Four-Year-old Championship at Forbury Park in February. She has been sold to Peter Chambers as a broodmare.
Commander Jewel was declared the winner of a Breeders' Crown heat at Addington as a 2yr-old when the only entry.
A big filly, she is by CR Commando out of In De Fence, a winning Sundon mare who is a sister to Del's Hoof N It, the winner of seven races.
Commander Jewel was a $15,500 purchase at the premier yearling sale. She is trained by Mark Jones, who prepared Crystal Star.
