Racing: Williamson may boost holiday tally

Jag's Invasion could provide Oamaru trainer Phil Williamson with another win on the holiday circuit at the Oamaru meeting today.

Williamson has won six races for trotters on the circuit. Jag's Invasion was a winner at Winton on December 29, the same day Rugged Cross won for the stable.

The other stable winners are Beyond Me (Gore), The Widowmaker (Omakau) and Duke Of The Moment and Rhythmic Sun (Roxburgh).

Beyond Me is a rival for Jag's Invasion in race 6 today. Rugged Cross is in race 9.

• Sun Valley had her third win from as many starts on the South Island holiday circuit when she led throughout the $30,000 Kumara Nuggets at Kumara yesterday.

She gave trainer Michael Pitman his fifth win in the race.

His other winners are Cahir (1985), Seagers (1992), Four Saints (1995) and Borninthestates (2008).

Sun Valley, raced by Cambridge breeder Jim Campin, has now won six races. The 7yr-old mare won at Washdyke on December 28 and Waikouaiti on January 1.

She was ridden yesterday by stable apprentice Amelia Denby.

Pitman said he would talk to Campin this morning about the possibility of a start for Sun City in the Miss Scenicland Stakes at Hokitika tomorrow.

"I have three other chances in the Miss Scenicland [Miss Maximuss, Hauturu and Aluminium Bikerack] and if she does not start, she would run in the Greymouth Cup," Pitman said.
