Racing: Whatashowoff to back up from Thursday win

Whatashowoff, a winner at Addington on Thursday night, will back up at Oamaru tomorrow with Jason Noakes the driver.

Her trainer, Cran Dalgety, was confident she would race well at Addington and consequently entered her for one-win and a two-win race at the Kurow meeting at Oamaru.

Dexter Dunn, who drove her at Addington, had already taken the drive on the David and Catherine Butt-trained Enrage in the race for junior drivers at Oamaru.

Noakes is also with the Dalgety stable.

The 7yr-old mare joined Dalgety after racing at Forbury Park on July 3.

She had won at Forbury Park in May when trained by Lorneville part-owner John O'Connor.

Dunn will drive the Dalgety-trained Rudiani in the Kurow Cup.

Rudiani, who has not raced since May 23 when he won at Addington, won impressively at Oamaru the same month.

He won a work-out at Rangiora last Saturday.

He could offer most opposition to Ohoka Rebel, who is unbeaten in eight starts.

Dunn ended the 2007-08 season on Thursday the leading driver with 146 wins.

Dunn (18) is the first junior to top the premiership and his tally is the highest since Tony Herlihy won 147 races in the 1994-95 season.

Maurice McKendry heads the list with 161 wins.

Nathan Williamson has been engaged to drive Rae Galleon in the main race for trotters tomorrow.

Rae Galleon began racing in April and she has has won four of her seven starts.

Her trainer, Bruce Negus, said she was vulnerable in her first race for five weeks.

"She had two weeks off since her last race and it would be fair to say she will improve," Negus said.

"There is a junior drivers' race for her at Addington in a couple of weeks and I wanted Nathan to have a drive on her beforehand."

Rae Galleon has been driven in her eight races by Mark Jones, who is on holiday in the United States.
