Jason Waddell, who made a winning comeback to race riding at Waverley yesterday, has prospects at Wanganui tomorrow.
Waddell rode Commett, a chance mount, to win yesterday in his first ride back after a 14-month suspension for a positive drug test.
Waddell stepped up for the John Bary-trained Commett after Jonathan Riddell was stood down.
Riddell suffered cramp after passing the winning post in first place on Relentless One and he was unseated.
He was replaced by Matthew Gillies on Regal Secret, who won the second race under 65kg. Gillies had been declared for Kalgoorlie Gold in the race but he was unable to make the weight of 64kg. He had been injured the previous day and could not use a sauna.
Waddell has been engaged for Paparazzi (Wanganui Guineas), Mindy (Fillies Stakes) and D'Goldie (race 10) tomorrow.
The Bary-trained Paparazzi finished second in his only start at Hawera on August 7.
Waddell has won the Wanganui Guineas on Alberto (2006) and Takeanotherchance (2009).
He won the Fillies Stakes on Kalamata (2003). Mindy, his mount tomorrow, won at Ruakaka on August 5. She won a trial at Cambridge last week.
D'Goldie was a last-start highweight winner at Ellerslie.
Dowager Queen may have the edge in the Fillies Stakes.
She won the Rotorua Stakes at weight-for-age and the Champagne Stakes at Ellerslie as a 2yr-old last season.
She performed creditably for fourth placings in Brisbane in June.
