Racing: Three-week spell for Lets Talk Art

Lets Talk Art, the 3yr-old filly, has gone for a three-week spell after her third successive win in a fortnight at Addington on Thursday night.

Steve O'Brien, her Redwood owner-trainer-breeder, said he would not pursue the Australasian Breeders' Crown final in Victoria on August 22 with Lets Talk Art although she won a heat at Addington on July 16.

"I will give the Breeders' Crown a miss. She would be up against De Lovely and you are only looking at place money," O'Brien said.

"I took her dam [Natural Talker] to Australia and she won in 1.56.6 in Brisbane."

Natural Talker won five races, including her win at Albion Park as a 4yr-old in 1998.

Lets Talk Art, raced by O'Brien with his wife, Maureen, is the fifth and last foal of Natural Talker, the Andrel mare who has not been bred the past two years.

Lets Talk Art (by Art Major) is the only horse in work with O'Brien, who is retired.

He had his first success in 1981 when he trained and drove the trotter, Batal, to win at Greymouth.

The Game Pride mare also won at Forbury Park the following season from 69 starts.

Armbro Winger is now in the Winton stable of Jonny Cox.

Armbro Winger was claimed by Redwood horseman Wayne Higgs for $7000 at Forbury Park on June 10.

The Armbro Operative gelding won six from the stable of Graeme Anderson and Amber Hoffman.

Chaff Muncha has been put aside for a two-week spell by trainer John Parsons.

An impressive winner at Rangiora on July 4 at his only start, Chaff Muncha was scratched at Addington on Thursday after failing to satisfy Parsons in his work.

Peter Jones will be joined by his wife, Leonie, as a training partner from August 1.

Leonie drove Morty to win a work-out at Ashburton this month.

Brent Mangos has been joined by stable junior driver Hayden Cullen in a training partnership at Pukekohe.
