St Peters Gift has given a boost to his half-brother to be offered by North Taieri breeders Everd and Marie Strauss at the South Island sale on August 13.

St Peters Gift, a gelding by St Petersburg from Royal Pass, won the Lisboa Challenge (1500m) at Macau on Saturday.

Trained by Joe Lau for Malaysian businessman Dato Yap Kim San, St Peters Gift met higher rated horses at set weights. He won by three lengths in the hands of Matthew Gatt.

St Peters Gift has had three wins and a third placing from six starts for $NZ103,949 in stakes.

St Peters Gift was sold for $30,000 by Strauss to Anzac Lodge at the 2008 South Island sale.

Strauss, an anaesthetist, and his wife, operate the Leafland Stud. The colt was resold for $100,000 at the Ready To Run sale.

A colt by My Halo from Royal Pass, is among six lots entered by Mr and Mrs Strauss for the South Island sale this year.

He is the sixth foal of Royal Pass, who is also the dam of Georgie's Way (by Al Akbar), the winner of two races from the stable of Steven Prince.

My Halo was the leading sire in Macau for 2007-08. His progeny included the listed Derby winner Ka Lam Fortune.

He stands at the Berkley Stud, Greenpark, operated by Edwina Morris and Alan Jones. They have 14 lots entered for the South Island sale.
