The result of a blood test will decide if Molly Darling resumes her New Zealand racing career at Alexandra Park on Friday night.
"I wasn't quite happy with her work this morning and I have taken a blood off her and will decide if she will start when I get the result back," Brent Mangos, her Pukekohe trainer, said.
"Otherwise I will hang fire. She has had a couple of trials and gone tremendous.''
The 6yr-old mare is aiming at races for mares in Melbourne next month. She won the Ladyship Stakes at Moonee Valley in 2006.
She has not raced since December when she won in the United States in a career-best mile time of 1.51.4. She won five races there last year. The Christian Cullen mare has won 11 races in NZ, including the 2005 Sires Stakes final for 3yr-old fillies and the Caduceus Club Classic at 2.
She has won seven in Australia.
- Come Follow Me will have her first start from the Oamaru stable of Phil Williamson at the Oamaru meeting today.
Come Follow Me, who has not raced since January 4, won twice at Invercargill when trained there by Wayne Adams.
Crusader Command, a rival for Come Follow Me, is now trained by Andrew Faulks at Waikouaiti. The Armbro Invasion 6yr-old who has not raced since August, won twice for Ken Barron.
Kumbya has been sold out of the Williamson stable to Australia. Kumbya has won six races and was successful at her last start at Invercargill on April 13.
- Absolute Magic ran a New Zealand record for a 3yr-old pacer when he won over 2700m (mobile) in 3.19.5 (1.58.9 mile rate) at Alexandra Park on Friday night. He lowered the mark of 3.20.1 set by Holmes D G in the 1997 Great Northern Derby.
- Omaha Beach, a newcomer to the Roxburgh stable of Geoff Knight, won a trial on his home track on Sunday.
Omaha Beach won two races when trained by Marcus Hamilton, who is no longer operating a stable. Omaha Beach has not raced since November.
I'm A Star, another newcomer to the Knight stable, finished third in a trial.
The winner of three races for Austin Stack, the 6yr-old mare has not raced since April, 2006.
