The remaining race on the card was abandoned within minutes after an approach from jockeys about the safety of a rain-affected track. King Montrose slipped at the 800m and a track inspection by stewards and jockeys confirmed other slip marks.
Lincoln Farms and Latta have also numbered the Winter Cup with Tuscany Warrior and Mickey Street among their wins at Riccarton. Lincoln Farms have also had major success with standardbreds including Sir Lincoln, who raced at Addington on Tuesday.
Lincoln Farms, comprising John and Lynne Street and Graeme and Erin Blackburn, all of Auckland, race Platinum Princess with Neville McAlister, of Wellington. Platinum Princess was a $90,000 purchase at 2008 premier yearling sale.
"Neville is our authority on breeding," John Street said.
The Keeper mare has now won seven races and the $137,500 winning stake boosted her stake earnings to $262,438.
Platinum Princess settled seventh and rider Kelly Myers brought her along the inner to win by half a length from the favourite Twilight Savings, who raced handy. Zabisco made a late bid for third.
Latta has been training for eight years. She increased her commitment recently, taking over the stable of Shane Marr at Riccarton.
Latta praised the ride of Kelly Myers.
"She is really riding well since a stint in Australia," Latta said.
• The win of Go Go Dingo yesterday brightened a sad past week for trainer Terri Rae.
"It has been a tough week with the death of my father," Rae said.
The established Riccarton trainer with several major wins Terri Rae prepared her first winner, The Bludger, in partnership with her father. That was at the Nelson meeting in 1996.
Graeme Rae died in Christchurch at the age of 70. He trained the useful winner Silver Ribot. He was a swabbing steward at Addington for some 20 years and also worked on the starting gates in Canterbury.
• Hayden Tinsley has been engaged to ride Planet Rock in the New Zealand One Thousand Guineas on Saturday. Michael Coleman has been the regular rider of Planet Rock, trained at Riccarton by Peter and Dawn Williams.
