Shamrox was due to travel from Ashburton to Palmerston North early this morning for the Marton meeting on Saturday.
Opie Boson has been engaged to ride Shamrox in a rating 90 1600m event.
"There were just no suitable races for her in the South Island," Simon Adlam, a part-owner of Shamrox, said.
Shamrox, who is trained by Daniel Champion and Kezia Murphy, ran third to The Meista and Aussieaussieaussie in the Timaru Cup (1600m) at her last start on December 28 on a rain-affected track.
"She managed the track but she is better on top of the ground," Champion said.
The Pyrus mare ran fifth in the Coupland's Mile at the New Zealand Cup meeting.
She has won her other four starts.
Robert Hannam, who has an unbeaten record on Bruce Almighty, is back aboard the Marton Cup top weight.
Hannam has not ridden Bruce Almighty since he won the Canterbury Gold Cup at Riccarton in May.
He also won the Marlborough Cup on Bruce Almighty.
Tina Comignaghi, the John and Karen Parsons stable apprentice, has retained the ride on O'Cartier in the $40,000 open 1400m at Awapuni.
Comignaghi rode O'Cartier to win at Waikouaiti on January 1.
New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing has appealed the penalty imposed on apprentice Casey Lunn for failing to ride out a horse at the Kurow meeting on December 30.
Lunn was suspended for four days and fined $150 by the judicial control authority representatives.
Sand Toyz repeated her win of last year in the Miss Scenicland Stakes at Hokitika yesterday when trainer Michael Pitman produced the first three home.
Sand Toyz, raced by John and Evelyn Carran of Otautau, won by three quarters of a length from Typhoon Warning with a nose to the fast-finishing Aluminium Bikerack, who had a rocky run.
Sand Toyz was ridden by Jamie Bullard, who rode Covered n' Grey in the second of her three wins in the race in 1997.
Pitman has also won with Miss Scenicland with Nomusa (1986), That's My Style (1991), Spritza (2002) and Flying Coup (2005).
Bullard also won yesterday on Pillager, Howzaboutmac and Inquisition.
Pillager, who was having his first start, is a half-brother to Second Coming, winner of the 1997 VRC Derby and 2000 Wellington Cup.
The son of Viking Ruler is raced by his breeder, Judge John Clapham and trained by Kevin Myers.
Pillager is the 15th foal of Superior Miss.
Stewards have declared the Gold Coast track unsafe for racing, putting the $4.3 million Magic Millions meeting on Saturday in doubt, AAP reports.
Racing Queensland steward Daniel Aurich walked the rain-soaked track following the feature race barrier draws yesterday.
Magic Millions Classic favourite Karuta Queen drew awkwardly in barrier 10 for the $2 million 1200m 2yr-old feature.
Second elect Pepper Jet drew gate four.
Aurich said two sections of the track posed serious concerns for the meeting to proceed.
"At the moment the section from the winning post to the 400m is unsafe for racing," Aurich said.
"But if it stays fine as it is today then the track should improve considerably.
"There's another section from the 800m to the 1600m which is also unsafe for racing."
Aurich feared the meeting could drop away as horses stranded by floodwaters closing roads can not make it to the Gold Coast.
