The seasoned condition of Romany should stand to him in the Winter Cup Trial at Ashburton tomorrow.

Romany has raced seven times since he resumed on March 27. The Al Jadeed gelding, trained at Riccarton by owner Laurie Jarvis, has won three of his last five starts on slow and heavy tracks. The track at Ashburton was listed as slow yesterday.

Romany has won over the cup trial distance, 1400m, and his other wins have been over 1200m and 1600m.

Paul Taylor, the New Plymouth jockey, has the mount with Chris Johnson under suspension. Johnson has ridden Romany in all his starts in his latest campaign.

Romany has been entered for the Winter Cup.

Trainers Brian and Shane Anderton have Royal Flight and Flight Point starting afresh in the race.

"They were not out for long and have done a bit of work but lack that seasoned condition," Shane Anderton, said.

"Flight Point usually sprints well fresh but the other mare usually takes a race or two. Whatever they do they will improve. Both are heading to the Winter Cup."

Flight Point, who has not raced for four and a-half months, won over 1400m on a dead track with 60kg in October at his third start after a break.

Now rising 9 and winner of 12 races, he won fresh-up over 1355m at Gore in 2008.

Royal Flight has not raced since she finished fifth in the Riverton Cup on April 5. She won over 1400m on a heavy track at Ascot Park in December. She ran third to Hold It Harvey and Eel Win in the listed White Robe Lodge Handicap in February.

Don't Say Clang, winner of the Cup Trial in 2008 with 54.5kg, is engaged tomorrow. Jamie Bullard, who won the race on Classic Clare in 2006, has the mount. Ashlee Mundy rode Don't Say Clang in 2008. She rides Flight Point tomorrow.
