The 7yr-old, trained by Richard Collett, of Pukekohe, mastered 58kg over 1400m yesterday.
"He was supposed to run in the Great Easter Handicap on the first day of the Riccarton meeting [April 4] but he got colic after he arrived in Christchurch on the Tuesday before the race and had to be treated," Collett said.
"That is why he raced at Riverton."
The next race for Super Alloy is a $40,000 event at Riccarton on May 2.
"It was nice to win a race down south," Collett said.
Collett was originally based at Gore, riding over jumps and training in partnership with his late father, Don.
He rode Paulmont to win the 1981 Great Western Steeplechase at Riverton.
Super Alloy has been in the care of Brian Hibberd at Riccarton.
Hibberd recently retired from race riding with 1013 wins in NZ.
Group one wins for Hibberd in NZ included the 1999 Avondale Cup on Trounced, 2001 NZ Two Thousand Guineas (Master Belt), 1994 Waikato Sprint (Western Red), 1996 NZ Oaks (Alacrity) 1992 Railway Handicap (Vain Sovereign) and 1991 Telegraph Handicap (Vain Sovereign).
He won the NZ Cup on Payco (1983), Exocet (1989), Karaoke (1993), Sapio (1995) and Waltermitty (2004) and the Winter Cup in three successive years from 1988 on Rongonui.
Hibberd rode 40 winners in Australia, including the 1990 VRC Derby on Fire Oak; 1990 AJC Oaks on Domino and 1989 Brisbane Cup (Coshking).
Collett won a race for 3yr-olds at Ellerslie yesterday with Mill Duckie.
She mastered 58kg over 1600m.
It was her seventh win for the season.
The daughter of Magic Ring has also been minor-placed three times in 12 starts since she began racing in August.
"We will see how she comes through her race today with a view to the Travis Stakes," Collett said.
"We are looking at Brisbane but it will depend how she does."
The $100,000 Travis for fillies and mares is a weight-for-age race over 2000m at Te Rapa on April 25.
Mill Duckie was freshened for her race yesterday after finishing third to Jungle Rocket and Can't Keeper Down in the NZ Oaks at Trentham on March 14.
Shanzero, another smart filly in the Collett stable, has been turned out.
She won four races from seven starts this season.
