Pure Power indicated he had recovered from travel sickness when he won a trial at Ashburton yesterday.
Pure Power was scratched at Addington on Saturday night through the travel sickness, his co-trainer, Clare McGowan, said. He travelled from Pukekohe to Ashburton early last week.
There is a race for Pure Power at Addington on Friday night. The 4yr-old was a last-start winner at Alexandra Park on April 8. He has won five races from 12 starts.
He returned the fastest time of 1.59.3 in a series of mile heats yesterday, the last 800m in 57.6.
Dreamit, who has not raced since February 17, won the main heat for trotters yesterday.
Trainer Cran Dalgety won 2yr-old heats yesterday with Afterburn (Real Desire-Spicey, gelding) and Lillybrook (Falcon Seelster-Birchbrook, filly). Dalgety has produced three individual 2yr-old winners this season - Orl Black (New Zealand Welcome Stakes and Kindergarten Stakes), Raging Bull and Texican.
• Tony Herlihy trained and drove his third Hawera Cup winner in the past four years when Swift Therapy prevailed yesterday.
Swift Therapy had won the Taranaki Cup at his previous start for owners the GPK syndicate, which bred the son of Christian Cullen and Swift Mirage. Swift Therapy has now won 10 races for 29 starts.
Herlihy has also trained and driven the Hawera Cup winners Costalot (2008) and Ohoka Dallas (2009). He drove Master Ryan to win the race in 1996.
