No Rush'n had his first win in new ownership and his first for two years when he triumphed in the Otago Steeplechase yesterday.

No Rush'n joined the leader at the 800m and the 12yr-old came again after being headed inside the 200m to win by a length and a-half in the hands of Ross Doherty.

No Rush'n was leased this season by David Hutton, the Washdyke trainer, his wife, Terry, with Ross and Vicki Stackhouse, of Ashburton.

No Rush'n won four steeplechases, including the 2009 Manawatu Steeplechase for Hastings owner-trainer, Paul Nelson. The Herocity gelding had his previous win at Hastings in May, 2010.

The favourite, Lautenschlager, finished second yesterday after sharing the lead at the least fence.

• Rider Stewart Moir and trainers Brian and Shane Anderton combined to win the Otago Hurdles (Cee Gee Jay) and a maiden hurdles (High Forty) yesterday.

Cee Gee Jay is unbeaten in three starts over hurdles since she was switched from flat racing a month ago.

Moir had chosen to ride Cee Gee Jay in preference to Cheap Date, whom he had ridden in three wins over hurdles.

"I chose her [Cee Gee Jay] because she handles the wet ground," Moir said. He won the Otago Hurdles last year on Cheap Date and the 2003 edition on Gold Jet, both from the Anderton stable.

Cee Gee Jay was in front at the 2000m, then gave way to Shakeitup at the 1200m. She regained the lead before the second last fence when Shakeitup made a faulty landing and parted company with rider Richard Cully.

Cee Gee Jay came clear to win by 16 and a-half lengths.

Ron Williamson, sponsor of the Otago Hurdles, is also in the ownership of Cee Gee Jay, with his wife, Jennifer.

High Forty was having his second start over hurdles.

Brian and Lorraine Anderton are in the ownership of Cee Gee Jay and High Forty.

"I may have to look at a flat race with Cee Gee Jay before the National meeting, otherwise there is a risk that she will have too much weight," Shane Anderton said.

"Cheap Date will probably have a steeplechase if he can strike a reasonable track."

The Anderton apprentices, Toni Direen and Courtney Barnes both won races yesterday.

Danny Frye won the race for amateur riders for the second year in succession. He is also the trainer of Nancy Myles. The mare was led back to scale by his daughter, Ashley (17), who has just begun an apprenticeship with her father at Balcairn.

KC Walters was replaced by Brittany Moore on Peter Richard in the last race. Walters collapsed in the jockeys room.

He was found to be suffering from dehydration, the result of wasting. He was sent to hospital for observation.
