Racing: No Escape Canada-bound

No escape, one of three winners at Gore on Saturday for West Melton trainer Graham Court, his reinsman son, Paul, and Christchurch owner Terry McDonald, is destined for Canada next month.

The trio also won the $16,000 Caduceus Club Of Southland Four-Year-Old Stakes with Charles Bronson and the heat of the Southern Supremacy Stakes with Comebackmach on Saturday.

Charles Bronson has also won the Four-Year-Old Championship at Forbury Park and the Waikouaiti Cup in his latest campaign. He has won his last four starts and taken his tally to 10 wins.

It was the fourth win for No Escape, a 5yr-old entire by Artiscape.

‘‘He [No Escape] has not had much luck lately. The sprint distances suit him,'' Paul Court said.
No Escape is booked to leave for Canada on April 15. He will be in the care of the younger Court based at Mohawk raceway.

‘‘Hopefully I can qualify him and sell him,'' Court said.

- Miss Jandel cleared maiden ranks at her 30th start yesterday in a $9000 graduation final at Greymouth. The 5yr-old mare, trained by Margot Nyhan for Waimate breeder Alex Colvill, began racing in July last year and has posted 19 minor placings.

She is by Live Or Die and the first foal of Dag And Jandel, winner of five races for Colvill when trained by Bob Cleave.

- The 3yr-old trotter No No Yankee won a workout against older horses at Rangiora on Saturday in 3.24.8 for 2600m, the last 800 in 58.4.

Indian Giver won over 2600, in 3.24.3 and 57.1. Indian Giver, trained by David and Catherine Butt, has not raced since November, 2006 when he won his third race from as many starts.
