Racing: Moir goes with Cee Gee Jay

Stewart Moir has opted to ride Cee Gee Jay in the Otago Hurdles at Wingatui on Sunday.

He was given the choice between Cee Gee Jay and Cheap Date by trainers Brian and Shane Anderton.

Moir has ridden Cee Gee Jay to win at Riverton and Riccarton this winter in as many starts over hurdles for the Towkay mare.

Chris Johnson has taken the mount on Cheap Date. Moir has ridden Cheap Date in his three wins over hurdles. Cheap Date has been placed in his three starts over hurdles this winter.

Cheap Date won the Otago Hurdles last year under 67kg. Moir also won the race on the Anderton-trained Gold Jet in 2003.

Johnson has won the Otago Hurdles on Woodbine Blue Chip (1993) and Faldo (1994).

Shakeitup, an entrant for the Otago Hurdles, arrived at Wingatui yesterday with Cambridge co-trainer Jennifer McIlroy. She is the co-trainer and co-owner with Michael Roustoby.

Richard Cully, who has ridden Shakeitup in a hurdle win and two flat wins, has the mount. The Shinko King gelding won twice over hurdles at Ellerslie early in the season. He has had three races on the flat in a fresh campaign and won a highweight at Rotorua last month.

Cully rode Morpheus to win the Ken Browne Memorial Hurdle at Ellerslie on Monday.
