Silver Ranger and Blackleugh are top prospects for the Branxholme stable of Kirk Larsen and owners Bruce Stirling and Jimmy Gin at Gore tomorrow.

Silver Ranger (race 9) has a win at Forbury Park and four placings in five starts this season.

He finished a close second to Kai Bree Shee at Ascot Park on December 15 at his last start.

He has drawn favourably over 2200m.

Blackleugh (race 7) has a win at Forbury Park and two second placings in three starts.

Messrs Stirling and Gin have also won races this season with Elmer Fudd (two) and Isinbayeva.

Centreofattention will be among the rivals for Silver Ranger if he does not enter the field for the Gore Cup.

Centreofattention, a winner at Winton last Saturday, needs two more scratchings to enter the Gore Cup.

Steven McRae, the Halswell trainer, who won with Franco Tijuana and Franco Legionaire at Invercargill on Wednesday, has Tootsie Franco, Nightshade Franco and Franco Emirate engaged tomorrow.

Houdini Star took his stake earnings to $405,279 when he won the $50,000 Trotters' Mile at Cambridge on Thursday.

It was his 15th win for owners David and and Gay Luke, of Ashburton and Lois Gill, of Arrowtown.

Houdini Star, who is trained at Ashburton by John Hay, has been entered for the Interdominion at Ballarat and Moonee Valley next month.

Steven Reid and Graeme Rogerson took the lead in the trainers' premiership after four wins at the Cambridge meeting.

The combination has won 42 races this season, one more than Mark Purdon and Grant Payne.

Dexter Dunn, who is at Ashburton today, leads the drivers' premiership with 71 wins, 18 clear of his nearest rival David Butcher.

Dunn is in Hobart tomorrow to drive Bettors Strike in the $A125,000 Tasmanian Cup.

Texas Hold Em is now trained by Robert Dunn at West Melton.

The winner of seven races when trained by Mark Purdon and Grant Payne, Texas Hold Em, has not raced since early June.
