The dash for cash is back at Forbury Park tonight, and one of the club's new committee members is tackling it with plenty of horse power.

Roxburgh trainer Geoff Knight was elected to the committee on Wednesday night, but has plenty to do tonight in his co-training role with wife Jude.

The Knights are gearing up two runners in the 1200m sprint series which proved popular in April and May.

''We've got four runners for it but we'll probably split them up as we go along so we're not throwing four in together,'' Knight said.

The two runners getting their chance tonight are Canderdel and The Shakey Mistress. Both mares seem ideal for the shorter distance.

''They'll suit the conditions of the race, for sure, and Canderdel, drawn where she's drawn [2], she'll go a big one,'' he said.

''Matt Williamson had the choice of drives and he said, `I'll just pick the one that draws inside the other.'''The Shakey Mistress is getting better and better and fitter and fitter, but the way Canderdel is working... I would say that if you swapped the draws around, I'd go the other way.''

The Knights also have two runners in the 1700m fillies and mares' mobile pace, with Mahinerangi Road landing the ace draw. Stablemate Canasta will start from the inside of the second line.

Knight hopes the barrier draw of 1 will bring some good fortune to Mahinerangi Road after two starts without all favours.

''To be fair, she hasn't had a lot of luck, got parked out last week and got shuffled back at her first start,'' he said.

''She's not the worst. She's at least a place chance from the draw. Canasta - she's just going to need a little bit of luck from where she is, and she's an on-pace runner.''

Classiebee deserves his chance at the c3-c6 grade again after a solid second placing behind Tuxedo Max last week, who is again a rival tonight.

However, they could be fighting out the place scraps, with the outstanding mare New Years Jay sure to dominate the betting.

Classiebee will start from barrier 3, inside Tuxedo Max and New Years Jay, and Knight expects continued progress from the McArdle 5yr-old.

''He actually made ground on Tuxedo Max up the straight which I was really pleased with, too. He's got a little bit of gate-speed, too, so he races handy.''

Vincennes (race 9) will look for the front after being unable to secure it last week.

''She got halfway across Smart Caesar but the wideness of the draw - you get across but you don't get right across. She's got her chance to lead this week anyway, so hopefully she can,'' Knight said.

''We all know she's a little bit one-dimensional but she's very potent when she's in front.

Maldini (race 7) has pull-down blinds tonight to find an extra half a length, while Unique Chance (race 8) needs to show more improvement to be persevered with.
