King Charlie, a winner at Oamaru on Sunday, has entered the field for the harness jewels race.

He has gained a start with the withdrawal of Cameron Jake, the third-qualified trotter among the 4yr-olds. Cameron Jake has trained off and he has been turned out for a spell, according to Thames trainer Sally Fenning.

Nigel McGrath, the trainer of King Charlie, also has Lough Beg in the 4yr-old trotter section of the jewels. He will drive King Charlie and Anthony Butt is on Lough Beg.

McGrath has Gimli in the 2yr-old trotter section and Chilli in the section for 4yr-old pacing entires and geldings.

King Charlie has won three races including the 2007 Great Northern Trotting Derby since being bought by Paul and Pauline Renwick, of Christchurch, 15 months ago and transferred to McGrath.

The Monarchy gelding won twice when trained by Neil Munro.

King Charlie and Gimli will travel to Cambridge on Thursday. They will join Chilli and Lough Beg, who have been in the care of Andrew and Lynn Neal.

The McGrath-trained James Ryan, first emergency for the 3yr-old colts and geldings pacers' section of the jewels, is already at Cambridge.

Auckland Reactor, the star 3yr-old pacer, continued his preparation for the jewels with a workout win at Motukarara on Saturday.

He ran 2200m (mobile) in 2.50, the last 800 in 56.5 and 400 in 27.8 and won by three lengths from Lladro. He is a $1.20 favourite in pre-post betting.

Duchenne has entered the 2yr-old trotter section of the jewels with the withdrawal of Great Getaway. Duchenne, trained at Hamilton by Luk Chin, has three placings in five starts for $900 in stakes. He finished second to Muscle and Power at Cambridge last Thursday in a non-totalisator race.

The Peter Simpson-Graeme Rogerson-trained Muscle and Power won his other start at Cambridge on April 10. He subsequently attracted a bet of $5000 in fixed-dividend betting at $6.50 and his price was slashed to $2.40.

He displaced Jumanji Franco as favourite.

Biella Star has entered the 4yr-old pacers' section of the jewels with the withdrawal of Charles Bronson, who raced well below his best at Addington last Friday.

Biella Star was scratched at Oamaru on Sunday due to a cold. He is being treated by trainer Robbie Holmes and his response will determine if he will accompany stablemate Kiwi Ingenuity to Cambridge.

Kiwi Ingenuity has shortened from $6 to $3.50 favourite for the 3yr-old fillies' section after her win in the NZ Oaks on Friday night.

Antares has been withdrawn from the 2yr-old pacers' section, allowing Eisenhower to enter the field.

Tintin In America has displaced Stunin Cullen as favourite at $3.50 following his win in the Sires' Stakes Final on Friday.

Nearea Franco is now a $2 favourite for the 4yr-old mares' section, ahead of One Dream ($3.20).

- Takeover Target, the champion Australian sprinter, won the $A765,000 KrisFlyer Sprint in track record time in Singapore on Sunday, AAP reports.

The 8yr-old ran the 1200m in 1.08.8 at Kranji. It was his sixth group one win. He will now head to England for his third campaign there.

Jay Peg, the South African galloper, easily won the $US2.2 million ($NZ2.91 million) International Cup on Sunday.
