Syd Brown, a regular vendor of yearlings, won yesterday with a filly he bought at the 2008 premier yearling sale.

Brown, the deputy mayor of Dunedin, is also the trainer of Goodtogo, who was having her third start when she won over a mile at Wyndham in 1.58.2.

Goodtogo, raced by Brown and his wife, Shona, is a 3yr-old filly by Mach Three from Fun To Run.

"I liked her pedigree, being related to Happy Hazel and Imagine That," Brown said.

She was a $14,000 purchase when offered by Kaiapoi breeder Paul Yesberg.

"The only thing I didn't like was her name."

Brown opted for a change from Funny Farm.

Goodtogo is the eighth foal of Fun To Run, who has left the Australian winners Joie De Vivre (1.58.3 mile rate), Xircom and Magic's In The Air.

Fun To Run is an unraced half-sister by Tuapeka Knight to Happy Hazel, winner of the 1989 Sires' Stakes Final for 3yr-old fillies, Great Northern Oaks and Ladyship Stakes.

Happy Hazel is the dam of Imagine That, winner of the 2003 Sires' Stakes Final at 2, the Sires' Stakes Fillies Championship at 3, the Queen Of Hearts and Kaikoura Cup.

Goodtogo qualified at Forbury Park on December 1.

"She showed a heap of speed from day one but she is a little bit head-strong.

I will take her along quietly for the 3yr-old filly races in Southland," Brown said.

Brown is busy on his Mosgiel property preparing six yearlings for the premier yearling sales next month.

They include a colt by Washington VC from Krystle and thus a brother to his fine mare Foreal, winner of 18 races and $664,800 in stakes.

Sunnivue Senator, a Julius Caesar-Shona's Double 4yr-old gelding, qualified as a pacer in 2.54.1, 4.2sec inside the required time for 2200m at Forbury Park yesterday.
