Rosie Myers takes over as rider from Robert Hannam, who is committed to The Twist.
"It is a sentimental thing. I have ridden for Adrian Bull [the trainer of The Twist] for a few years. His father, Jim, who died recently, raced The Twist and sponsored the Rangitikei Cup," Hannam said.
The Twist has won a trial at Otaki since his last-start fourth over 1400m at Trentham.. He won over 1400m at Riccarton in August after finishing second to Taking The Mickey in the Winter Cup over the Rangitikei Cup distance of 1600m.
The Twist also ran third to Wall Street and Tell A Tale in the Coup-land's Mile at Riccarton in November.
Hannam rode Icelette to win the 1990 Rangitikei Cup. Jim Bull won the race three times in succession as an owner from 1985 with Magnitude, trained by his sister, Margaret.
Hannam rode Bruce Almighty to win the Canterbury Gold Cup (2000m) at weight-for-age (59kg) at his last start, six days after a win in the Marlborough Cup. Bruce Almighty eclipsed the opposition in the Canterbury Cup in his usual role of pacemaker. He has 58kg tomorrow.
Bruce Almighty ran second to Bulginbaah in the Rangitikei Cup last year.
