Glenalvon won his last start at Rangiora on July 17 for trainers Mark Purdon and Grant Payne.
The win came two days after Gore owner Pat Kubala bought out his partners in the son of Christian Cullen and Glendowan.
Glenalvon had entered their ownership after being purchased for $195,000 as a 2yr-old at the Ready To Run Sale in Christchurch.
Glenalvon had his other win first up as a 3yr-old at Washdyke in September last year.
He ran fourth at Alexandra Park in December in a race won by the highly-regarded Red Zone, who is in race 7 tonight. Red Zone, who has won five races, all at Alexandra Park, has his first standing start tonight.
A workout win at Cambridge last Saturday points to a bold showing fresh up from Trigirl Brigade in race 5.
Trigirl Brigade, trained by Andrew and Lynn Neal at Cambridge, won her workout by three lengths in 2.29.5 for 2200m (mobile), the last 800m in 57.3.
The Purdon-Payne pair, Kotare Ash and Arden's Darlin are seasoned opposition for Trigirl Brigade.
The stable has Scotty Mach resuming in race 7. Scotty Mach won at Alexandra Park last season.
