Racing: Franco Emirate ready for Green Mile

Franco Emirate is on target for the Green Mile at Methven next Sunday after a workout win there last Saturday.

Franco Emirate, the winner of nine of his 10 starts and second in the other, has not raced since he won at Addington on November 12.

Trained by Jim Curtin, he has yet to race on grass.

He won his workout in 3.13.7 for 2400m.

Franco Jamar, Tennis Ball and Lord Mamaduke have also been entered for the Green Mile.

Franco Jamar won fresh up at Addington last Saturday when Tennis Ball was also successful. Lord Mamaduke won the Waimate Cup on Sunday.

Beaudiene Bad Babe is set to resume racing in the Northern Breeders' Stakes at Alexandra Park on Friday night.

She has not raced since winning the Harness Jewels at Cambridge in June.

She won eight of her 13 starts last season and has a record of 21 wins from 36 starts.

She has won fresh up at two, three and four.

She has raced once at Alexandra Park for an unplaced effort as a 2yr-old.

De Lovely, the leading 3yr-old filly last season when she won the New Zealand Oaks, Harness Jewels, Australian Oaks and Ladyship Stakes, is among the rivals for Beaudiene Bad Babe.

De Lovely has not raced since she won the Breeders' Crown at Melton in August.

She ran third to Sleepy Tripp and Scotty Mach in a workout at Alexandra Park last Wednesday.

Kegus Maximus, now trained by David and Catherine Butt, resumes at Forbury Park on Friday night.

The Sands A Flyin gelding, a winner from eight starts when trained by Terry and Glenys Chmiel, has not raced since February, 2009.

Mon Star, who won a workout at Rangiora on Sunday, is an addition to the Butt stable.

The winner of six races when trained by John Hay, Mon Star has not raced since May.

The 10yr-old Joe Boy is now trained by Rick Burnett at Rolleston.

Joe Boy has not raced since March, 2008.

He won six races when trained by the late Peter Cowan.

Darci Brahma sired his first winner when the 2yr-old Super Easy won at Trentham on Saturday.

Super Easy is from the first crop of Darci Brahma, winner of the New Zealand Two Thousand Guineas, Telegraph Handicap, Waikato Sprint, TJ Smith Classic and Otaki Stakes, all at group one level.

Super Easy was a $140,000 purchase at the premier yearling sale at Karaka in February. A colt out of Parfore, he is raced by the Joy and Happiness Stable, of Singapore.

Super Easy is a half-brother to the Ipswich Cup winner, Our Lukas.

Lisa Cropp has appealed a careless riding suspension incurred at Moonee Valley on Friday, AAP reports.

She appealed both the stewards' decision and the severity of the 14-meeting penalty.

The Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board will hear the appeal on Thursday.

Monton, a winner at Rosehill on Saturday, is scheduled to have his next race in the Railway Stakes at Ellerslie on January 1.

He is booked to fly to Auckland from Sydney on December 20.

His trainer, Tim Martin, won the 2007 New Zealand Derby at Ellerslie with Redoute's Dancer.

"He [Monton] has got a good record and I think eventually he can get 1600 metres," Martin said.

Monton has won three times from 11 starts.

He won the group two Hobartville Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill this year when he beat subsequent gr one winner Shoot Out and Captain Sonador.

Monton has also been entered for the Telegraph Handicap at Trentham on January 22.

He is at $11 on the New Zealand TAB fixed-dividend market for the Railway, with Katie Lee and Italian Princess heading the betting at $7.

Coup Align is the $5 favourite for the Telegraph Handicap at Trentham, with Monton at $18.
