Racing: Filly No 1 with breeders

Phil and Margaret Creighton, the East Taieri owner-breeders, continued a run of success when Numero Uno won at Oamaru yesterday.

The 3yr-old filly led over the last 1200m of 2000m and came again after being headed in the run home.

"We needed the win to get into the next heat of the Sires' Stakes," Phil Creighton said.

He bred Numero Uno, by In The Pocket and the first foal of Hide The Gold, winner of four races.

Hide The Gold is a half-sister by Holmes Hanover to Stabilizer (1.51.2).

Numero Uno is trained for Creighton by Greg and Nina Hope at Woodend Beach.

The $10,000 late entry fee was paid for Numero Uno to contest the series.

She ran fifth in the opening heat at Waterlea on January 15.

The next heat is at Ashburton on February 13.

The late entry fee was also paid for Anvil On Fire, an impressive winner at Forbury Park last Thursday.

Rose Dunn, wife of the trainer, is in the ownership of both horses.

She races Niraadi with Ross and Angela Gordon, of Christchurch, and Ross's parents, Don and Carol Gordon.

Rose's mother, Elaine Bagrie, and brother, Peter, share the ownership of Pacific Fleet.
