Racegoers at Wingatui on Monday better not blink.
Because the dual-code meeting held by the Beaumont Racing Club and the Forbury Park Trotting Club at Wingatui is done and dusted in under four hours.
The Otago Anniversary Day meeting is into its third year, and Beaumont president Phil Williams said the meeting was described as "quickfire''.
"We're really happy with how it's going,'' Williams said.
"It's bringing more people to the track. Some people only like harness but they'll come and look at the gallops and vice versa.
"The meeting started at 1.30pm last year, but Williams was pleased the meeting would start at midday this year.
"Having an earlier start is good as people don't want to be too late on a day before they go back to work.''
The club's committee had appreciated a regular date after being shifted around until finding the spot on Otago Anniversary Day in 2014.
"The Monday works really well and now people are starting to take Otago Anniversary Day as a holiday.
"We're expecting a bumper crowd.''
The best guide for the Beaumont club was the number of sponsors who were keen to get involved again.
"We've had really strong sponsor support,'' he said.
"Everyone that sponsored last year wanted to be back in - and a few others.''
The club had appreciated the support from the Otago Racing Club, particularly chief executive Hannah Catchpole, and Williams said the Wingatui track was in "great order''.
Forbury Park Trotting Club general manager John Ayoub said entertainment for children would be available, including face painting, pony rides and other activities.
Otago Kidz Kartz would be holding heats prior to the two meetings.
Entry to the meeting is $5.
