Racing: Change of stable for Sir Slick

Sir Slick and Time Keeper joined the Matamata stable of Jon Sargent yesterday.

Graeme Nicholson, the part-owner who previously trained the pair, decided to make the transfer on two counts. He has not been in the best of health and his trackwork rider, Floyd Molyneux, is now working for Sargent.

"I will get them ready for Christmas racing," Sargent said last night.

Sir Slick, the winner of 22 races and $2,038,177 in stakes, has not raced since May. The 10yr-old had his last win in the 2010 Awapuni Gold Cup.

Time Keeper cracked a hind cannon bone in January and he had the leg screwed. He has won five races, including the 2010 Manawatu Classic.

• Ginner Hart, an impressive winner at Hastings on Saturday, is being aimed at the Hawkes Bay Guineas.

Ginner Hart came from last on the home turn to win a 1200m race for 3yr-olds. The son of Volksraad-Lyford Cay had won his other start at Trentham in April for Wanganui trainer and co-owner Alexander Fieldes.

The $85,000 Hawkes Bay Guineas (1400m) is on October 1. There is another lead-up race in Hastings on September 17.

Fieldes, who combines training with work as a meat inspector, also has Marea Alta in his four-horse team.

Marea Alta is four weeks into a six-week spell since she won the Taumarunui Cup on July 30. She will be lightly campaigned in the next few months, with her mission the City Of Auckland Cup (2400m) at Ellerslie in January.

• Hold It Harvey, who resumed at Oamaru last Friday, will back up in the Coupland's Cup (1600m) at Washdyke this Friday. Trainer Terri Rae is striving to have him fit for the Windsor Park Plate (1600m) in Hastings on September 17.

• Rebel Raider, the dual Derby winner, has aggravated an old sesamoid injury, AAP reports.

Rebel Raider was on the comeback trail after a suitable stud could not be found for the entire. He developed heat in his sesamoid following his first-up fourth in the Spring Stakes in Adelaide on August 6.

Scans revealed a ligament had broken away from the sesamoid.

"I'm not saying he is finished but he probably is, because he will be a 7yr-old next year," trainer Leon Macdonald said.

Injuries have prevented Rebel Raider running in the past two Melbourne Cups. He fractured a sesamoid last spring.

Rebel Raider included the Victoria and South Australian Derbies among his six wins from 21 starts.
