Richard Brosnan added to his list of major trotting race wins when he drove Stylish Monarch in the group two Trotters' Mile at Cambridge on Thursday night.
Stylish Monarch, trained at Levels by Murray Tapper, for Cannington breeder Anne Patterson, had triumphed in the Dominion Handicap at Addington last month when driven by Ricky May.
Brosnan (62) made his name with square gaiters as the trainer-driver of No Response,, whose group one wins including the 1970 Interdominion Final at Addington, 1981 Rowe Cup, NZ Trotting Championship.
Brosnan also trained Pompallier to win the 2005 Dominion Handicap. Pompallier won 20 races.
Brosnan drove Fraggle Rock to win the Cambridge Mile in in 1993 for trainer Carl Middleton.
Fraggle won the Interdominion in Auckland in 1991. Stylish Monarch has been quartered with Brosnan at Ardmore.
The Monarchy gelding left stride in the run up and lost his chance at his previous start.
''He [Stylish Monarch] is not as confident the Auckland way around and he got back and had to chase the gate and went off stride. Ricky will be well aware of that when he drives him next at Alexandra Park,'' Tapper said.
Brosnan trained and drove Castleton's Man to win a maiden trot on Friday.
The Blue Lotus, an inexperienced 3yr-old filly, ran a mile in 1.56.6 to win on Friday.
It was her second win in six starts.
The half-sister by Grinfromeartoear to Tintin In America, is trained by Ian Small.
