Opie Bosson has been engaged for Royal Flight, who is trained by Brian and Shane Anderton.
"Depending on how she goes on Saturday, she will stay for the Opunake Cup," Shane Anderton said.
The Opunake Cup (1400m) is at New Plymouth on July 23. The Tauranga Stakes is a weight for-age 1400m for fillies and mares.
Royal Flight has not raced since she won the listed Easter Handicap (1400m) at Riccarton on May 7. She is a proven performer on rain-affected tracks.
She won a 1400m race for fillies and mares at Riverton at her previous start. She ran third to Propel and Taking The Mickey in the Winter Cup at Riccarton in August and second to She Rules in the Cuddle Stakes (1600m) at Trentham in October.
Sacha, winner of the Tauranga Classic last year and Platinum Zana, the 2009 winner, have been nominated for the race on Saturday. The pair are trained at Awapuni by Lisa Latta.
The North Taieri-bred St Peter's Gift won the listed Macau Director's Cup in Macau on Saturday.
St Peter's Gift (St Petersburg-Royal Pass), who has also won the listed Macau Derby Trial, was bred by the Leafland Stud operated by Everd and Marie Strauss.
St Peter's Gift was bought by Anzac Lodge for $30,000 at the 2008 South Island Sale of 2yr-olds. He was resold for $100,000 at the Ready to Run sale that year.
