Racing: Bosson out with injury

Opie Bosson, the leading jockey, did not ride at Pukekohe yesterday and he has been ruled out for meetings at Otaki today and Awapuni on Saturday after an injury to his shoulder.

James McDonald, the leading apprentice, did not ride yesterday due to influenza.

Garry Cossey, his manager, said he expected McDonald to fulfill his engagements at Otaki today.

He said McDonald had several good rides at Te Rapa on Saturday, including Peace Lilly, Mr Spock and Miss Caruso.

Ross Fisher, manager for Bosson, said the injury occurred on Tuesday and was not related to racing.

"The injury will be reassessed in a couple of days," Fisher said.

Bosson is leading the premiership with 59 wins, one clear of McDonald with Lisa Allpress in third place with 57 wins.
