An early-race gallop by Anothersuperstar was forgiven when she sprinted up the passing lane to win the c1-c3 handicap trot for Tapanui trainer Alan Shaw.
The 7yr-old broke twice at Ascot Park on Saturday, although Shaw put that down to trainer error with the mare's shoes.
''I left them on too long - they were worn out too much,'' he said.
''But that's just part and parcel of training.''
The daughter of Now Another Look made a mistake last night early in the race, galloping for 70m before settling back down.
''She's prone to doing that. She just gets a bit keen.''
Shaw potters around with Anothersuperstar and one other trotter - ''a work in progress'' - at home on his 500m track on the outskirts of Tapanui.
He has been training for ''30-odd years'' and helped out Dick Prendergast when Prendergast was based at Palmerston.
Shaw's best season came in in 2010-11, when Superstarourwishes won five times from 37 starts, with four of those wins coming at Forbury Park. She won seven races overall, one less than her mother, Superstaragogo, who won eight overall, including four for Shaw.
Anothersuperstar's mother, Stargo Whiz, is a half-sister to Superstarourwishes.
