The 77-year-old horseman Ivan Schwamm drove his own horse Doc's Delight to win at Rangiora yesterday.
It was the first win for Schwamm in two seasons.
Doc's Delight is trained by Lew Driver at West Melton, who took over the horse about six weeks ago. Doc's Delight had not won in 36 starts when trained by Schwamm.
Schwamm has a stable at Leeston, about 18km away.
He does most of the work with his horses on the roadside and has to transport his horses to a track.
"We did a swap on his suggestion. He felt his horse would do better with work on a track and a change of scenery.
"I have given him President's Doll to work on the roads," Driver said.
President's Doll, the winner of two races, has not raced since March.
