Kotare Mach (race 7) hinted at a return to winning form when runner-up to Dundee Three at Ashburton at his last start on June 6. He started from 40m over 2400m. He is to be spelled after his race tonight.
Six of his 12 wins have been over 1950m (mobile), the most recent in a 1.57.4 mile rate at the New Zealand Cup meeting in November.
Franco Emirate was the runner-up.
Brent Borcoskie, the former trainer-driver of Brownie (race 10), is back in the sulky of the trotter tonight. Brownie returned to racing with a winning double at the Nelson meeting this month from the Woodend Beach stable of Greg and Nina Hope.
Brownie won four races, all at Addington, when trained by Borcoskie. He had leg problems and was sent to the Hopes for beach training.
Borcoskie has driven the gelding in three of his wins.
Brownie was driven in his Nelson wins by John and Dexter Dunn.
John is on Burano tonight. He drove Burano to success at Oamaru last month.
Cam Before The Storm has joined the West Melton stable of Tim Butt after a change of ownership. The 2yr-old McArdle-Cam's Legacy gelding won at Richmond Park on June 10 at his only start when trained by Ross Rennie. The Haymakers syndicate has retained a 20% share in Cam Before The Storm. The other 80% will be syndicated.
Cam Before The Storm has been put aside for a spell.
Misterizi, a 1.51 trotter in the United States and winner of the Nat Ray, is in light work with Butt after joining the stable 10 days ago. The 8yr-old entire has been bought by Tim and Anthony Butt and Paul Montgomery, a Gold Coast owner, who races Hostile Grins (Wairio Cup) from the stable.
"He [Misterizi] has settled in well and we will give him a preparation for spring races," Tim Butt said.
Ballindooley (race 5) is a top prospect for the stable tonight.
The 3yr-old has a win at Addington and a third on promotion at Ashburton from three starts. He will be driven by David Earnshaw with Anthony Butt on holiday.
