Herlihy back in sulky on One Over Kenny

Papakura reinsman Tony Herlihy is set to renew his association with One Over Kenny in the $A50,000 group one Special Olympics Mile at the opening of the Menangle track in Sydney on Sunday.

Herlihy has driven One Over Kenny in 10 of her 24 wins.

They have combined for success in the 2007 Australasian Trotting Championship at Moonee Valley, the 2007 Rowe Cup at Alexandra Park and the C B Cochran Cup at Geelong in February.

Herlihy drove One Over Kenny to win the National Trot and Lyell Creek Stakes at Alexandra Park and the Turf Bar Mile in 1.57 at Cambridge last December.

One Over Kenny was transferred from Oamaru trainer Phil Williamson to Geelong trainer Ross Payne after she was unplaced in the Interdominion final at Moonee Valley in March. She has had three starts for Payne with her best effort a second to False Gem in the group three Lighfoot Laurels (2575m) at Moonee Valley after starting from 50m.

One Over Kenny ran fourth in a free-for-all at Moonee Valley at her last start on June 13 after working hard to take a handy position.

Heather Williams, the Waimate co-owner of One Over Kenny, said the mare had been hindered before the race.

She cast a shoe when travelling to the meeting and lost another which had curtailed her preliminary.

One Over Kenny has drawn five.

Viva La Fever, winner of the ffa, has drawn eight on Sunday.

The race is among seven gr one events on a nine-race card for the opening of the 1400m trackwhich will replace Harold Park as the home of the New South Wales Trotting Club.

Smoken Up is favourite for the $A100,000 Len Smith Mile on Sunday after drawing one.

Lance Justice, his trainer-driver, said the draw gave Smoken Up every chance to hold the inside advantage.

Justice said Smoken Up had worked well since his late scratching from the Italian Cup on June 13.

Smoken Up was coughing before the race.

Smoken Up has won 19 races, including the gr one South Australian Cup in January.

Justice won the Miracle Mile Mile at Harold Park in 2003and 2004 with Sokyola.

Molly Darling, who returned to winning form at Harold Park last Friday, is in the Ladyship Stakes on Sunday.

She is now trained by Dennis Wilson.

• Striking Dash, who is engaged in race eight at Addington today, is now trained by Phil Burrows.

The 7yr-old gelding was claimed for $3500 at his last start when he finished fifth at Addington on June 10.

He won his previous start at Washdyke when trained by Adam White at Fernside.

Striking Dash won five races in the North Island, four for John Green and Brian Hughes, and another for Frank Phelan.

Striking Dash was claimed by Ron and Marie Dawe, of Fernside.

Burrows will be training from their property from August 1.

They have recently installed a track and built a barn.

Burrows is based with Nigel McGrath at West Melton.

He held the licence for the stable and trained 30 winners when McGrath was on the sideline for 13 months from 2005.

Dexter Dunn, who drove Lavros Frost to win at Forbury Park on Thursday night, will switch to Robyns Shark at Addington today.

Lavros Frost will be driven by Mark Jones.

Robyns Shark finished seventh at Addington on June 10 in his first race for 4 months.

• Themightyquinn has been sold to Perth.

The 3yr-old numbered the Northern Stakes at Alexandra Park and the Sires' Stakes Silver at Ashburton in November for Ohoka trainer Peter Bagrie and his wife, Anne. The Washington VC gelding ran the mile in 1.55.9 at Ashburton.

He ran third to Fiery Falcon and The Cavalier in the Harness Jewels.
