Coupland's Mile for Comanche Gold

Comanche Gold will have his next start in the $230,000 Coupland's Mile on November 9 after a fresh-up win at Riccarton on Saturday.

Comanche Gold remained unbeaten at Riccarton after his win in the Coupland's Mile Prelude (1400m) on Saturday in his first race for seven weeks.

The 4yr-old, who is trained at Riverton by part-owners Graham and Michael Eade, has won his four starts at Riccarton, including a double at the Grand National meeting in August on soft tracks.

Crystal Duke, winner of the Spring Classic on Saturday, has been entered for the New Zealand Cup (3200m) on November 12.

He is owned by Barry Thomas, of Queenstown, who is chairman of the Christchurch Casino, sponsor of the New Zealand Cup.

King's Rose was named South Island Horse of the Year for the 2010-11 season in Christchurch on Saturday.

King's Rose, owned by Dr Gene Tsoi, of Hong Kong, won the New Zealand One Thousand Guineas and Ray Coupland Stakes when trained at Rangiora by Jason Bridgman.

Mark Sweeney was suspended until midnight next Sunday for careless riding at Te Awamutu yesterday.

Sweeney, the rider of Vite Fille, admitted shifting out at the 600m, causing checks to Royal Bliss and Close Encounter.

Milo and So Elusive, who have been freshened since racing in Australia during the winter, won trials at Motukarara on Friday.

Aussieaussieaussie won the open 1200m trial.
