Choise Achiever ran the 2400m in 2.55.8, which was within 0.7sec of the New Zealand record set by Flashing Red in the 2006 Ashburton Flying Stakes.
The previous best time in an Ashburton Cup was 2.58.8 by Cup Day in 2006.
Choise Achiever is trained by Tim Butt, who prepared Flashing Red.

It was the third win five starts this season for Falcon Crown.
Dobson was the co-owner of the Dunn-trained Panky's Pacer, winner of the 2000 Westport Cup.
Dunn also trained Premium Reserve to win the Westport Cup in 2001.
