Otago wrestlers were among the medals over two days of top wrestling in Dunedin.

The national championships wrapped up at the Edgar Centre on Saturday, followed by the Taieri club's 75th jubilee celebrations that night.

There were several successes for the host club too. Solomon King claimed titles in both the freestyle and Greco-Roman classes. He beat Lewis Vaughan, of Dunedin club Greco-Roman title and was also the only competitor in the 70kg junior freestyle division.

Vaughan had been competing up a grade, however, and was the Greco-Roman 67kg champion. Sam Harrison also had success for Taieri in the junior freestyle, claiming second in the 65kg grade. He was beaten by Suraj Singh, of Wildcats.

In the senior female grade, Simone Reynolds claimed second in the 65kg freestyle. She was beaten by Commonwealth Games competitor Ana Moceyawa, who was one of the tournament's star attractions.

Taieri's Jamie Kerr was second in the 97kg freestyle senior men's. He was defeated by Combat's Sport's Joe Dobson, who then claimed the double by winning the Greco-Roman title too.

Sylvia Amor also secured a title for Combat Sports in the 72kg senior female freestyle grade.

Both clubs also had several place-getters in the age-grades, as did the Gore-based Southern Spartans.
